THE AMAZING RACE Season 25: What We Think of the Teams So Far

The Amazing Race aired its fourth episode (and  leg) last week, and is airing its fifth one tonight, at 8/7c on CBS, so I thought this was a good time to talk a bit more about the teams, since we’ve gotten a better feel for them by now.

… is a young graduate student that has been way too passionate about television ever since she was little. While she insists she doesn’t have a specific type of show, they all usually have strong but flawed lady characters, some derivation of the stubborn friends-in-love/friends-to-lovers trope, and they all make her yell at her tv a lot. She just wishes she had more hours in the day so she could actually write about this.

The TV season is in full swing, and we have a lot of things to discuss.

So let’s go ahead.

Tuning In Tonight: 09/26/14 & 09/27/14

A little late, but here are our choices for tonight and tomorrow night!

Nels: To be honest, after the total gut-punch that as Bones last night, I think I’m taking a break from the tube tonight! On Saturday, I’ll be watching Saturday Night Live at 11:30 on NBC, because come on, it’s Chris Pratt.

Cassidy: After last night’s traumatic events, I just couldn’t concentrate on either Scandal or HTGAWM. So that is in my list to watch either this or tomorrow’s afternoon. As for actual shows airing live, I can’t wait to watch The Amazing Race 25 tonight! I’ll also be watching Saturday Night Live tomorrow night, with Chris Pratt as the host. Should be fun!

Thank You Liz Lemon Team
We’re a couple of girls who really love TV, and we’re okay with that.

THE AMAZING RACE Debriefing: “Go Big or Go Home”

The Amazing Race started its 25th (!) season tonight back where it all started thirteen years ago: New York City. How weird is it to be watching the show on a Friday evening? When it’s assured to start on time? Wow.

The starting line? The intersection known as the “Crossroads of the World”… Times Square! For the first time ever, fans were invited to join Phil and the teams at the starting line on May 31, at 3am.

As always, the world is waiting for you… Good luck… Travel safe… GO!

News Bites

Here are some of the stories that caught our interest this week!

What TV news caught your eye this week?

Nels
Nels knew how to operate a TV remote control before she knew how to talk. As a result, she has spent an inordinate amount of time pretending she actually lives on a soundstage. When she isn’t watching whichever show is currently capturing her heart, she is writing about how said show is currently capturing her heart. She loves pie.

Fall 2014: What We’re Watching!

It’s hard to believe it, but the 2014-15 TV season is nearly upon us! We here at TYLL thought this would be a great time to talk about what we’re most looking forward to this fall. Join Nels, Cassidy and Lucie as we discuss what we’re tuning into in a few weeks.

Cassidy has you covered from A to Z to, well, A to Z. She’s our go-to person for everything you need to know about the new season, because if it’s airing, she’s heard about it.

Weekly Roundup May 17-May 30

Weekly Roundup

Long time, no post! Due to Memorial Day Weekend and other commitments, I was unable to finish the column in time last week, and considering there is not going to be much tv in coming weeks – except for a couple of reality competitions I’m following – this is also likely the last roundup piece till mid June, when 1) shows announce premiere dates; 2) GOT, Veep, Cosmos and Orphan Black are done. Anyhow, read ahead for many thoughts on the Bones, TAR finales and the Masterchef premiere, as well as some quick thoughts on all cable shows.

Weekly Roundup May 10-May 16

Weekly Roundup

In today’s edition – as always, slightly later than we’d like to – there is some gushing regarding a great scene on last Sunday’s Game of Thrones, talk about the Arrow and Trophy Wife finales, and quickly check in on a few other shows.

Weekly Roundup May 3-May 9

Weekly Roundup

In today’s edition –  a day late and a dollar short – we check on Veep and the two FOX comedies that ended their seasons this week, have quite a lot of feelings on The Amazing Race and can’t really give a good roundup on either finale dates or events because there’s too much going on.
