REVENGE Debriefing: It’s always the little things that’ll getcha

It’s a new year, and a new recap here at TYLL!

Revenge returned tonight right where it left off last month, and didn’t waste a second getting right back into the swing of things.

Allegiances are realigned and tested in “Epitaph,” and one thing’s for sure: we aren’t really sure where anybody stands these days. (So stay away from balconies just to be safe, everyone.)

Once again: here be major spoilers from the fall finale, so enter at your own risk.

Nels
Nels knew how to operate a TV remote control before she knew how to talk. As a result, she has spent an inordinate amount of time pretending she actually lives on a soundstage. When she isn’t watching whichever show is currently capturing her heart, she is writing about how said show is currently capturing her heart. She loves pie.

I know I’m a few weeks behind on Revenge here at TYLL, but I finally caught up in a marathon this weekend, just in time for the fall finale. Not a moment too soon, because with an ending like the one tonight, we’re certainly going to be left with a lot of questions over the upcoming holiday break.

WARNING: Major spoilers ahead, so read at your own risk.

The gloves are coming off in the Hamptons (or, in this case, coming back on), and everyone is feeling the repercussions.

I’m slowly catching up on the backlog on my DVR, which means I’ve got a whole lot of Revenge on my mind. When last we checked in with the Hamptons’ most dysfunctional family tree, David Clarke (James Tupper) was alive and well and busy kidnapping lost love Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), while Emily (Emily VanCamp) was about to find herself the main course of a barbecue at the Stowaway, thanks to even-more-vengeful sister Charlotte’s (Christa B. Allen) maniacal scheming. My family reunions are definitely never this eventful.

REVENGE Debriefing: Web of Thornes

After last week ended with Victoria (Madeleine Stowe) breaking out of her forced stint in the looney bin, and David Clarke (James Tupper) kidnapping her steps away from his own daughter — unbeknownst to him — Revenge kicks off this week’s episode with some kidnapping, some cheating, some blackmailing, and as always, a lot of revenge.

Revenge left us last season with its entire world flipped upside down. Emily seemed to have finally won her match, Daniel was busy losing his family’s company through blackmail, Charlotte was traumatized to find out her kidnapper was none other than brother-in-law Jack, Victoria was locked up in the psych ward, and Conrad was (apparently) murdered as soon as he escaped from prison — by no other than presumed-dead wrongfully accused terrorist David Clarke! If you had any doubts that this show was a soap, then last season would have sealed that deal.

So here it is, back for its fourth season, and “revengier” than ever, as Nolan would say. There’s a new queen in the Hamptons, but how long will she reign? And will her crown have enough room for a red sharpie or ten? Buckle up, folks, because it’s a wild ride when Emily Thorne is in the driver’s seat.

Fall 2014: What We’re Watching!

It’s hard to believe it, but the 2014-15 TV season is nearly upon us! We here at TYLL thought this would be a great time to talk about what we’re most looking forward to this fall. Join Nels, Cassidy and Lucie as we discuss what we’re tuning into in a few weeks.

Lucie closes out our series with her PVR-worthy picks for this fall! Expect lots of murder and mayhem with a dash of sass. (As if you hadn’t gotten enough of that from Nels and Cassidy‘s picks earlier this week.)

Lucie
Lucie was a classic 80/90s kid that grew up with the television as a babysitter. As she’s begrudgingly becomes an adult, she sadly can no longer enjoy television as mindless entertainment and subconsciously starts analyzing shows, specifically in the context of race and gender. She enjoys police procedural, strong female leads, and political dramas. She’s sarcastic and snarks a lot which may be mistaken for bashing, but it’s not…usually. She longs for the days where she can just watch TV and not parse it for subtext.
