The ninth episode of Scream Queens was all about ghosts and ghost stories. Fabled ghost stories were told as an attempt to keep the Kappas’ minds off their own “real-life” ghost story. One member of the Red Devil squad met his maker this week. And we, as an audience, were left to wonder about his mysterious other half. With just five chapters left in this saga, the answers have begun trickling out a bit more rapidly. Same with the deaths.

Marla has been passionately and disturbingly obsessed with television since she was in diapers. She lives and breathes all things TV, and attempts to watch anything and everything. Unfortunately there are just not enough hours in the day. She definitely has her top favorite shows, the identities of which will become painfully obvious if anyone stumbles upon her social media pages.

Episode 8 provided us with some pretty significant revelations about Grace’s mother, the death of a beloved character, and the return of a “missing” character.  As we get closer to the last leg of the season, it has become abundantly clear that this whole ordeal is much bigger than just an amateur killer with a literal ax to grind.  It would appear that this is an intricate revenge plot with quite a few different players. Since this post is a bit delayed, let’s just jump right into the episode!

I apologize for the extremely late post. I toyed with just jotting down a quick summary of the latest episodes. But I also wanted to do them justice since I really enjoyed them. So here is the full recap for episode 7. I think I loved this episode primarily because the last scene was perfection. I absolutely adore Jamie Lee Curtis in this role.  She is completely ridiculous, but not to the point of absurdity. And her work in the final scene was utterly brilliant. I will not ramble on too much here since this is an older episode. Let’s just get right to it.

Another week, another batch of murders. A slumber party turned bloody in the sixth episode of Scream Queens, as a Kappa and two Dickeys lost their lives at the hand of the Red Devil. This episode did not have much in the way of plot progression, but I imagine the rest of the season will be full steam ahead!

The second installment of the Scream Queen three-part Halloween “special” was actually my favorite episode since the premiere. The story seemed to flow a bit more seamlessly, though I’m still not entirely sure where the plot will be heading going into the second half of season 1.  I’m willing to stick with the show and find out, especially after a most-intriguing ending this week! Could we possibly be closer to solving this mystery? I’m still on board.

This week’s episode, Haunted House, is the fourth hour of the Scream Queens series. It is also the first of a three-part block of Halloween episodes. The body count was down once again (unless you count the revisiting of corpses we’ve already met). And both the purpose and direction of this story have become a bit less apparent. That said, I’m not watching Scream Queens for its solid plot and genius execution. I see its flaws. I may even point out a few along the way.  But it really all comes down to fun. And as long as I don’t take the show too seriously, it’s definitely a lot of fun. There are some enjoyable characters and plenty of witty dialog. This is the lens through which I personally choose to watch the show. And this is the mindset with which I will be reviewing! That said, let’s get to it.

Welcome back to Scream Queens. The third episode was a bit less action-packed, but I expected that to be the case after last week’s crazy two-part premiere. There were not many answers, and now I’m left with even more questions. Thankfully this episode gave me a plethora of absurdly quotable lines. And the the inclusion of the Backstreet Boys during a murder scene ended up being everything I never knew I wanted.

Team Note: Hey everyone! Please welcome our newest writer, Marla, to the fold! We’re so excited to have her onboard, and we can’t wait for you all to watch Scream Queens with her!

Despite the promotional campaign that has spanned months, if not longer, I actually (for once) did not do any really extensive detective work into Scream Queens.  I initially heard the names “Ryan Murphy” and “Jamie Lee Curtis,” and I was honestly 100% sold already.  I fancy myself a fan of the horror movie genre, and throwing Jamie Lee Curtis back into that world both fascinated and exhilarated me.  Even if I didn’t know much about her character, I didn’t want or need to know any more than the fact that she was a part of it.

The double-episode Scream Queens premiere was almost exactly what I expected from a Ryan Murphy broadcast network show in terms of style, story and satire.  But it also packed some definite surprise and some of the most shockingly quotable lines I’ve heard in a television show in some time.  It wasn’t perfection, but definitely kept my interest through the entire two hours.  All in all, I’m intrigued to see where Murphy takes us in the weeks to come.

I couldn’t possibly go through this moment by moment, there were too many characters and too much show to cover.  Hopefully I can get into much more detail (in far less length) next week!
