BONES 11×06 Debriefing: “You Know How Much I Love Cute”

BONES: Cast L-R: John Boyd, TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor, Michaela Conlin, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. The 11th season of BONES premieres Thursday, Oct. 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2014 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: FOX

Is it fair to let your past taint your future? We usually improve upon our past mistakes so that we can become better people, but there are instances where those mistakes come back to haunt us.

It’s not surprising that a murdered senator would have a secret biological daughter he did not want anyone knowing about. The characters we care for? They have plenty of those skeletons hanging around in their closet, too, so it’s not a shock that Jessica has been involved with Greenpeace and the like in the past.

Tonight’s episode did not fully delve into this but it was resonant enough to stick with me. Read on for more thoughts on that and a recap after the break!

… is a young graduate student that has been way too passionate about television ever since she was little. While she insists she doesn’t have a specific type of show, they all usually have strong but flawed lady characters, some derivation of the stubborn friends-in-love/friends-to-lovers trope, and they all make her yell at her tv a lot. She just wishes she had more hours in the day so she could actually write about this.

BONES 11×03 Debriefing: Black Market Craiglist

Only Booth and Brennan would deal with a case that dipped its feet into the organ harvesting world on their first day back, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

The show returned to its usual, procedural-y formula tonight with an interesting case with a powerful ethical debate as its center, and added its usual share of great character stories that perfectly complimented it.

Let’s discuss all the things that happened during Bones 11×03, “The Donor in the Drink”!

BONES 11×04 Stills: “The Carpals in the Coy-Wolves”

BONES: Cast L-R: John Boyd, TJ Thyne, Tamara Taylor, Michaela Conlin, Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. The 11th season of BONES premieres Thursday, Oct. 1 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2014 Fox Broadcasting Co. Cr: FOX

BETTY WHITE.

That’s it, that’s all you should know about this episode.

Just kidding. “The Carpals in the Coy-Wolves,” airing on October 22 at 8/7c, has more than the Emmy-winner going for it… It also has a Superbowl Champion (Ronde Barber)!

Per the press release, when the remains of a real estate agent are found, seemingly destroyed by coyote-wolf hybrid, Brennan enlists Dr. Beth Mayer’s (Betty White’s character) help — not only is Dr. Mayer very accomplished, but she is also very knowledgeable about the fantasy football world, a key part of Ross’ past. Moreover, as Booth and Aubrey dig into this, they find he had a Twitter feud with NFL star Lou Drivers (played by Ronde Barber) and was also owed a large sum of money from the league’s commissioner. Meanwhile, Brennan resists feeling competitive as Mayer impresses everyone with her expertise.

The squintern this week? Oliver Wells.

BONES 11×02 Debriefing: “You’re Incredible”

Bones picked up right where last week’s intense premiere left off, and answered the questions we asked. What has Miller been hiding? Will Booth make it out? (Spoiler alert: duh) What is going to happen with Arastoo, and his relationship with Cam?

This episode also seemed to hint at possible future storylines and the themes the show will explore this year. But let’s go ahead and discuss what transpired during Bones 11×02…

After the Bones season finale aired back in June, I had many questions — knowing the show was returning, I was wondering what would bring Booth and Brennan back into the life they had left behind.

The premiere answers that and a bunch of other lingering questions, while posing a few more. Being the first of a two part, the episode takes it time to uncover the different elements of the mystery, which benefit the pace tremendously. But before I say something spoilery, let me jump to recap “The Loyalty in the Lie.”

BONES 10×20 Debriefing: Falling Out Can Be So Cruel

(c) FOX

After last week’s break, Bones is back tonight, fully committing to the fallout from Brennan’s decision while moving the rest of the pieces to prepare for the finale.

Addictions come in different flavors, but they have the same effect at their worst: losing touch with your own reality and not realizing the detrimental effects  on the addict and their family. Some of them, however, can probably be contained if you work it, as “The Woman in the Whirlpool” kindly reminded us. I’ve talked before about how the show deals with thematic similarities between the case and the characters (to different levels of subtlety) and in this episode’s case, those connections allowed Booth to correct course and get him closer to regaining his life before he destroyed it irrevocably.

So follow along for our “The Woman in the Whirlpool” recap!

BONES 10×07 Debriefing: “Bring it on over.”

Tonight’s episode of Bones welcomed back Oliver Wells (Brian Klugman), told us more about James Aubrey’s (John Boyd) past and saw Christine (Sunnie Pelant) calling her bunny (spoiler alert: and other people) a jackass, immediately eliciting some funny reactions from an alarmed Booth (David Boreanaz).

BONES 10×03 Debriefing: “I picked you, didn’t I?”

Last week’s episode brought closure to the long-running conspiracy and also honored Sweets’ memory with a beautiful and unconventional funeral.

Tonight’s episode, however, did not forget about him, but its overall tone was not somber — even though there was a theme of trust weaved in the episode, there was also some fun — it was just what you would come to expect from an episode!

Things were explosive when we last checked in with the Jeffersonian team. I could go on an elaborate but quick recap of the finale here, but this Buzzfeed post actually does a great job.

If you are here, I bet you just want to get right to discussing the events that transpire in that fast-paced season ten (!) premiere, am I right? (Especially that ending. Oh god.)
