BONES 12×10 Stills: “The Radioactive Panthers in the Party”

It’s hard (and sad!) to believe, but we are down to the last 3 episodes of the show. The producers have hinted at the last two episodes being part of a two-parter, so this might be the last “standalone” episode ever. Let’s take a moment to savor that. (If it’s not, we will definitely do that next week as well.)

In “The Radioactive Panthers in the Party,” airing on March 14th at 9/8c, the team investigates the murder of an aspiring writer/director whose burned and bruised body crash-landed on top of a car. Elsewhere, Betty White returns as Dr. Beth Mayer, and Brennan seeks out her opinion on the meaning passion in the workplace. (Wendell is the squintern of the week!)

Buck and Wanda are back!

In Bones‘ Episode 9, “The Steel in the Wheels,” our favorite gum-chewing mullet-haired duo are back, ready to solve crimes this time at a demolition derby!

Meanwhile, a familiar (and welcome!) face from the past returns to help with the long-cold Gormogon case. (Source)

BONES 12×03 Stills: “The New Tricks in the Old Dogs”

We have some more Bones stills for you guys!

On Tuesday, January 17th at 9/8c, there will be some retirement home drama on FOX, as you can see in the Bones 12×03 stills below.

In this episode, the team will investigate the murder of an old man found in an acid site (and will get sucked into the aforementioned retirement home drama). As they explore the case, talks of marriage and kids will dominate the conversation back at the lab. This episode guest stars 2016 survivors Hal Holbrook, June Squibb, and Ed Asner, among others.

We’ve had the promo for as long as we’d had the press release, but now it’s time to see the stills!

FOX has released the Bones 11×21 stills for penultimate episode of the season, “The Jewel in the Crown.” As the promo and the press release hinted at, the team investigates a murder over a diamond when a body was found with one lodged in its jaw. French inspector Rosseau (played by Sebastian Roche) approaches the team with an accusation against the Marquis De Chaussin (played by Gilles Marini) — the victim’s husband, who lives in Virginia. Elsewhere, Booth discovers he suffers a temporary eye illness (hence, those glasses in the promo), and Hodgins thinks he’s being followed by a ghost. Plus, Daisy’s back!

Mosey on over! On Thursday night, Bones had two radically different episodes. The first hour featured the return of Buck and Wanda, Wild West edition: Big River Buck, and Wildcard Wanda. As is the norm with most undercover episodes, this outing was a lot of fun because it gave the audience a peek into how the characters would behave out of their comfort zone.

The make-believe was not everything there was to this episode, as storylines that have been brewing for the past few episodes come to a head: Angela’s desire for more kids plays front and center, and Cam’s relationship with Sebastian casts doubts on going forward with him.

More thoughts after the jump!

Disclaimer: Yes, there will be two recaps. I apologize for the delay in posting this one, and I apologize for how late the other is going to be. You can blame finals and holiday travel!

As you might have heard, we won’t have a new Bones episode until December 10, when FOX will air two episodes on one night. Since they are not a two-parter, we have decided to make different posts for each episode.

In the first episode of the night, Booth and Brennan will go undercover at an Old West-style shooting competition (as you might have seen in the promo that aired after 11×08) to solve a murder. Elsewhere, Angela and Hodgins discuss the future of their family, and Cam gets close with Sebastian Kohl.

SLEEPY HOLLOW 3×05: Ichabod Crane vs. the 21st Century

Courtesy Fox

Apologies for the impromptu absence last week, Sleepyheads! (Perhaps I will be able to recap last week’s favorite moments this weekend, because Ichabod playing video games and eschewing standardized testing is every bit as delightful as it sounds.)

We’re back swinging this week, because it’s the great FOX crossover event! How do two FBI agents, a forensic anthropologist and a two-hundred-and-fifty-year-old soldier manage to share the screen? Through a couple of plot devices and a lot of Hollywood magic!

It matters not, though, dear friends, because our Witnesses get to go on two (!) road trips to Washington, D.C. to solve a murder, and end up fighting Pandora again in the process. Cassidy will have your Bones recap up soon detailing Booth, Brennan, Crane and Mills’ Scooby adventures, but in the meantime, there’s nothing quite like a lab full of scientists to throw Ichabod out of his element — and we reap the rewards!

Here are some of the highlights from “Resurrection in the Remains” and “Dead Men Tell No Tales”

  1. Ichabod is genuinely stoked at visiting the Smithsonian Jeffersonian Institution, a center which embodies everything the Founding Fathers strove for. It’s beautiful. And hilarious, because he also has to explain to a bunch of strangers who aren’t aware of his, er, unique perspective.

  2. NO TOUCHING THE BOOK OF SHADOWS, Dr. Hodgins!
  3. Look at that — Revolutionary-era Ichabod helped solve a modern-day murder! Who needs computers and DNA when you have ancient parchments and porcelain teeth.
  4. “He called it Fondle in the Forest.” I want to know Ichabod’s old-timey cocktail names right now. Also, I want to go drinking with Ichabod right now.
  5. Ichabod goes bowling. I repeat: ICHABOD GOES BOWLING.
  6. “All up in your faces!” Ichabod tries so, so hard with the colloquialisms, like a precious cinnamon roll. (Hmm, more in common with his Washington counterpart?)
  7. However, he might need a slightly-less-conceptual costume next year for Halloween. (Maybe he can try Ben Franklin?) These 21st-century citizens just have no appreciation for his finery.
  8. “Miss Corinth wants me to peruse her Instant Gram. Apparently I’ve been ‘tagged’.” Everything about this sentence.
  9. #CraneOnTheBrain
  10. “Now might be the time for [Brennan] and Agent Booth to ‘throw down’.” Is it wrong to say I want to witness whoever is clearly conduction Slang Indoctrination with Ichabod?
  11. Brennan invites herself onto the case because she apparently “does not negotiate,” and Ichabod learns what contemporary Booth lives with on a daily basis.
  12. Modern skepticism is no match for Ichabod’s arched eyebrows: “[Brennan] dismissed Moloch as a man with a skin condition.” Some people have no respect for supernatural demon-fighters!
  13. Ichabod is flummoxed over dating in the present day, which is why he has Abbie as the best wing woman ever to help him navigate the treacherous waters.

  14. “Caller identification is a marvel.” Poor Ichabod, how can a gentleman caller present himself suitably when his intended calls him out on it first? Talk about a mojo killer!

BONES 11×06 Stills: “The Senator in the Street Sweeper”

For a show set in DC, Bones hasn’t necessarily delved into the politics world as often as you would have thought. However, that will change on November 5th, when “The Senator in the Street Sweeper” airs.

As per the press release (or the title), we can infer that the shredded body of a U.S. Senator is found in a street sweeper. This leads Booth, Brennan and co. to Capitol Hill, where they’ll meet with the majority whip Hayley Winters (played by Brenda Strong) and the victim’s chief of staff, Eric Morales. On the personal side of things, Aubrey looks into Jessica’s past as they start developing a relationship — just to make sure nothing will taint his dream future in politics.

It’s Booth and Brennan’s first (official) day back at work!

After the events of the two-parter premiere (airing on October 1st and 8th, respectively), the duo is back at their respective positions at the Jeffersonian and the FBI and things seem to be back to normal… for the most part.

Their first case back? As per the press release, remains that have been found at a fish farm. Someone has been harvesting several of the victim’s organs before dumping him on the water, and Angela will track the seller and buyer to uncover important details on the case.

Meanwhile, Booth readjusts to his position, only to find Aubrey has taken over his former office; Hodgins pushes Angela to showcase her photography work, and Cam is struggling with her decision of choosing work over her relationship. (Wendell is this week’s squintern, by the way.)

Check out the Bones 11×03 stills! The episode will air on October 15th at 8/7c.

BONES 10×15 Debriefing: Poker Face

(c) FOX

Tonight’s Bones elicited a lot of different reactions before it aired — both because of the very happy news it shared, but especially because of the gambling storyline it dropped on us. I have to say — though the last few seconds were not exactly unexpected, they were still a gut punch.

Gambling (and its addiction) was at the forefront of the episode whether it was Booth’s relapse or the victim’s second life, and that made for some intense scenes that David Boreanaz, Emily Deschanel (and John Boyd, as the third person carrying the weight of the storyline) nailed. Those scenes had a realistic feel to them that made them particularly hard to watch (my heart is still in my throat), but that’s probably an encouraging sign that this is going to be dealt with well.

Before I get into too much detail, let’s recap Bones 10×15 “The Eye in the Sky.”

[Note: Despite posting time, I haven’t had time to properly rewatch the episode, so some details might be off. They should be fixed by later today.]
