Everybody’s working for Labor Day!

Remember what we said about new content over the summer? Er, sorry about that. But we’re back now, and ready to have fun!

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!

As summer unofficially comes to an end on this holiday weekend, we have cause the celebrate — because that means the fall TV season is just around the corner!

To ease our way out of barbecues and reruns, and back into commutes and must-see TV, we here at TYLL want to take a look at some of our favorite fictional workplaces in recent years. (We are honoring workers today, after all.)

Grab your briefcases and to-go cups, because going back to work never seemed so fun. Be sure to let us know what your favorite offices are in the comments!

Thank You Liz Lemon Team

Flashback Friday: VERONICA MARS

Courtesy UPN/CW

It’s a noir teen drama about a teenage private detective and the seedy underbelly in her hometown of Totally Not San Diego, California. How could it go wrong?

Readers, it didn’t. (Mostly.)

Veronica Mars might not have had a long tenure on the airwaves, but it packed a punch while it graced us with its presence. It had a female protagonist who was smart and strong, yet who was not without her flaws, making her all the more human. It had a wonderful cast full of  TV veterans and newbies alike, who perfectly blended to bring Neptune, California to life. It wasn’t afraid to be gritty, on a network best known for love triangles and homework woes. (Not that Veronica Mars didn’t have its share of those, too.) Simply put, it was unlike anything else on television at the time, and I’d argue there hasn’t been anything like it since.

A long time ago, we used to be friends, but then you got canceled and we didn’t hear from you for a decade.

Nels knew how to operate a TV remote control before she knew how to talk. As a result, she has spent an inordinate amount of time pretending she actually lives on a soundstage. When she isn’t watching whichever show is currently capturing her heart, she is writing about how said show is currently capturing her heart. She loves pie.

Is there a VERONICA MARS spinoff coming your way?

Be still my heart!

Well, not quite.

If you haven’t heard, last week CW Seed (what a name) announced they were airing a web series called Play It Again, Dick starring Neptune’s own Dick Casablancas (Ryan Hansen), beginning September 16. In it, Hansen tries to parlay the success of the Veronica Mars movie into his own spinoff, with some familiar faces gracing our screens.

You can watch that here:

Now, TV Line has added some stills to its photo gallery for the show. Are you intrigued? I know I sure am!

Also, is CW Seed an unfortunate channel name, or what?
