Rejoice, Nashville fans! The day you’ve been wishing for since this show premiered four years ago finally arrives: Deacon and Rayna are tying the knot, come hell or high water! Which may be more than a figure of speech, if their history is anything to go by.

Nashville is determined to shake up everyone’s relationships before it bows out for its winter hiatus. Some lovers seal it with a kiss, others part ways for good. Siblings drift further apart, while parents and children try to repair what’s been lost. Music might join them all together, but it sure doesn’t heal all wounds.

Howdy, y’all!

First up: apologies for the radio silence for the past few months. Apparently real life thinks it takes precedence over Music CIty’s latest scandals. That just ain’t right!

Since last we met here, our favorite songbirds have gone through quite the storm. Jeff kicked the bucket, Juliette hit rock bottom and went to rehab, Avery filed for divorce, Rayna is producing for bad boy Markus Keen while Deacon steams, Scarlett and Gunnar are still continuing their (never-ending) cycle, Will wrestles with being a country music outcast, Luke is dealing with his son’s disdain for him in the wake of the coverup, and Maddie is acting like she’s the first teenager to lose her virginity, while Daphne thinks she’s the only one left behind. Oh my! We’ve got a lot to catch up on.

Oh, Nashville. You sure know how to yank a girl’s heartstrings.

Bring on the waterworks, folks, because just about everyone on this show is breaking your heart this week.

Sometimes this show is so on the nose, isn’t it?

As is often the case on Nashville, no one can have nice things for long on this show, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Deacon and Scarlett wait for news on Bev’s condition, Gunnar is still pouting about his ex, Juliette is nearing meltdown status, and Rayna deals with more label woes.

We’re back, y’all!

I didn’t realize how much I missed Nashville until it returned for its fourth season– I’m sure there’s a song in there somewhere, but we’ve got too much to talk about for that right now. Last season’s cliffhangers take center stage this week.

Did Deacon survive his transplant? Is Juliette relishing the single life after trading in her baby blues for Wheelin’ Dealin’ Records? Has Will embraced the spotlight since coming out? Has Gunnar crossed over into borderline stalker territory with his pursuit of Scarlet? Can I possibly ask more questions in this introduction? Click ahead to find out more!

When Nashville left us before the holidays, everyone’s troubles came home to roost, leaving us wondering how the show would untangle all the tricky webs it wove in the first half of the season. Last night’s midseason premiere picks up in the immediate aftermath, and no one is left unscathed from the drama — whether it’s Luke and Rayna’s botched wedding, Layla’s overdose, Deacon’s diagnosis, Gunnar’s paternity woes, or even Avery and Juliette’s marital-not-so-bliss.

NASHVILLE Winter Finale Debriefing: “I just wanna make sure it’s my life I’m living,” says everyone

CLARE BOWEN, CHARLES ESTEN

Way to close out 2014 with a bang, Nashville!

In the fall finale, we have a wedding, an overdose, a hookup and a paternity test, but none of them necessarily from the people you’d figure would have them. Talk about a roller coaster!

(Warning: As always, spoilers ahead for this week’s episode.)

NASHVILLE Debriefing: Christmas and cold shoulders

CONNIE BRITTON, WILL CHASE

Ah, it’s Christmas in Nashville, and it’s appropriately awkward and heartfelt!

Rayna and Luke’s publicity tour extends to homegrown Christmas special that puts all their warts on display. Speaking of publicity, Will and Layla are sick of extending their fake marriage when the ratings for their show takes off, and they unexpectedly bond over being treated like meat. Meanwhile, Zoey and Gunnar repeat “breakup” more times than is necessary, but they don’t let it stop them from performing at Nashfest with ZAG. (HA! Spoiler alert, they totally do.) On the other hand, Avery’s in his own spot of trouble when Sadie Stone wants him to produce her new album, but Juliette misinterprets her interest as romantic. And Scarlett confronts her stage fright yet again. Someone get some mistletoe, stat!

NASHVILLE Debriefing: And the award goes to…

WILL CHASE, CONNIE BRITTON

… Anyone not named Luke Wheeler!

Nothing like the Country Music Association Awards to bring out the best and worst in Nashville’s most celebrated residents on its biggest night. After last week’s time jump, we’re right back in the thick of things. Luke (Will Chase) and Rayna (Connie Britton) still think they’re going to get married, but a pre-nup reveals just how little these two actually talk. Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) finally meets Avery’s (Jonathan Jackson) parents, but it doesn’t necessarily go as planned. After the humiliating premiere of their reality show, Will (Chris Carmack) is trying to make lemonade out of lemons, but Layla (Aubrey Peeples) looks like she’s been sucking on those lemons in the meantime. Gunnar’s (Sam Palladio) lapping up fatherhood, but Zoey’s (Chaley Rose) not game with playing stepmom. And everything comes to a head under the spotlights.
