Everybody’s working for Labor Day!

Remember what we said about new content over the summer? Er, sorry about that. But we’re back now, and ready to have fun!

Happy Labor Day, Everyone!

As summer unofficially comes to an end on this holiday weekend, we have cause the celebrate — because that means the fall TV season is just around the corner!

To ease our way out of barbecues and reruns, and back into commutes and must-see TV, we here at TYLL want to take a look at some of our favorite fictional workplaces in recent years. (We are honoring workers today, after all.)

Grab your briefcases and to-go cups, because going back to work never seemed so fun. Be sure to let us know what your favorite offices are in the comments!

Thank You Liz Lemon Team
We’re a couple of girls who really love TV, and we’re okay with that.

MAD MEN 7X13 Debriefing: We’re not in Kansas anymore. (Which is probably a good thing.)

With only one (!) episode left until the series finale, Mad Men has a lot of loose ends to tie up — or not, as the case may be, because if there’s one thing this show has always reinforced, it’s that you don’t always get a storybook ending in life. Boy, is that ever true for Don and everyone else on the show tonight.

Nels knew how to operate a TV remote control before she knew how to talk. As a result, she has spent an inordinate amount of time pretending she actually lives on a soundstage. When she isn’t watching whichever show is currently capturing her heart, she is writing about how said show is currently capturing her heart. She loves pie.

What’s old is new again. Some familiar faces return to Mad Men for some goodbyes, while everyone wonders what’s in store ahead. (Including yours truly.)

Mad Men 7×09 Debriefing || If you thought Don and Megan’s long-distance goodbye last year was the last you’d seen of the erstwhile Mrs. Draper, then guess again. She’s back, and despite her claims to the contrary in the first half of the season, she really does need Don to take care of her. But she hates it, so everyone suffers as a result. Meanwhile, Don’s tryst with the mysterious waitress rises to the next level, and in the process becomes even more confusing, for him and for us.

The wait is over, and Mad Men is back for its final (for real this time) episodes. Tonight kicked off a seven-week extravaganza as the last hurrah for Sterling Cooper & Partners, but if one thing’s for certain, it’s that Matthew Weiner can still leave us guessing, even this close to the finish line.

THE WALKING DEAD Debriefing: Judas Priest

twd

Previously on The Walking Dead: Our People meet the goofiest zombie apocalypse survivor ever in Gabriel, a Priest with a Secret. Rick, Michonne, Bob, Sasha, and Gabriel go swimming with walkers, which will probably become a big cruise draw ten years after the zombie apocalypse, while Carol and Daryl go after the car that kidnapped Beth in Season Four. Rick (well, Judith) decides that everyone should ahead with their road trip to Washington D.C. And fun fact: Bob’s leg feeds a family of five!

Previously on The Walking Dead: Carol saved everyone from hipster cannibals. Full stop.

Well, that premiere was quite a ride, wasn’t it? Ready for a segue episode?

THE WALKING DEAD Debriefing: Fine Young Cannibals

the walking dead season 5

Hey Everyone! Please give a warm welcome to our newest contributor! Mariana is amazingly witty and hilarious, and you should read everything she writes. Starting with this!

Previously, on The Walking Dead—Our People went from one seemingly utopian haven with a deadly secret to another seemingly utopian haven with a deadly secret, because apparently seeming utopian havens with deadly secrets are the new Starbucks of the zombie apocalypse—they’re freaking everywhere. Will Our People be able to take destroy yet another makeshift society with their own bare hands? Do you really have to ask?

Weekly Roundup: September 21-27

Weekly Roundup

Did you miss this? A feature we had running weekly in the spring, Weekly Roundup used to quickly summarize what I watched that week some of TV’s most noteworthy events during the week. However, we’ve grown and changed since then and it’s only appropriate these reflect this.

While she insists she doesn’t have a specific type of show, they all usually have strong but flawed lady characters, some derivation of the stubborn friends-in-love/friends-to-lovers trope, and they all make her yell at her tv a lot. She just wishes she had more hours in the day so she could actually write about this.
