THE AMAZING RACE Season 25: What We Think of the Teams So Far

The Amazing Race aired its fourth episode (and  leg) last week, and is airing its fifth one tonight, at 8/7c on CBS, so I thought this was a good time to talk a bit more about the teams, since we’ve gotten a better feel for them by now.

While she insists she doesn’t have a specific type of show, they all usually have strong but flawed lady characters, some derivation of the stubborn friends-in-love/friends-to-lovers trope, and they all make her yell at her tv a lot. GREY’S ANATOMY: The Calzona Diaries 11×01

JESSICA CAPSHAW, SARA RAMIREZ

In an attempt to kick my horrible writer’s block, I bring you the first entry of  “The Calzona Diaries”, a feature that will essentially recap Grey’s Anatomy episodes, focused solely on Callie, Arizona and their storylines. Even though I may deny it, who am I kidding – I’m only watching because of them. Reader discretion is advised. If you do not like snark, you may want to skip these.

Lucie
Lucie was a classic 80/90s kid that grew up with the television as a babysitter. As she’s begrudgingly becomes an adult, she sadly can no longer enjoy television as mindless entertainment and subconsciously starts analyzing shows, specifically in the context of race and gender. She enjoys police procedural, strong female leads, and political dramas. She’s sarcastic and snarks a lot which may be mistaken for bashing, but it’s not…usually. She longs for the days where she can just watch TV and not parse it for subtext.

SLEEPY HOLLOW: Ichabod vs. The 21st Century, 9/22/2014

sleepyhollow_s2_cast

We have more thoughts to come on tonight’s Sleepy Hollow premiere, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say our favorite part of the show is Ichabod Crane trying to navigate a world full of cell phones and blue jeans.

So here are our top 5 Ichabod vs. The New World moments from “This Is War”:

  1. Ichabod’s cupcake-flavored surprise party. “I shall consider myself punked.”
  2. Ichabod wielding a machine gun like he’s a member of a SWAT team. “Clear!”/”I’ve been ready for two hundred years.” Talk about badass!
(Yes, we realize these two were from some sort of shared hallucination, but we don’t care.)
  3. Ichabod recording a heartfelt goodbye message to Abbie on his cell phone lest he not survive his burial… only for it to blare at him because there is no more memory left on his phone. I hate when that happens!
  4. Ichabod driving a van to Jenny’s rescue… But not knowing how to put it in reverse. (Just imagine if it was a stick shift!)
  5. Awkward fist bumps! Ichabod’s come a long way, though.

What was your favorite part of tonight’s episode?

(If you want a wonderfully detailed account of the episode, go read Kelly Connolly’s recap at Give Me My Remote.)
