SLEEPY HOLLOW: Ichabod Crane vs. the 21st Century, 10/20/14

Well, tonight’s episode sure was light on the laughs, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t a moments of befuddlement from our favorite time-traveling hero.

Here’s how Ichabod delighted us in “The Weeping Lady” tonight:

[Nels edit: quotes will be fixed once I’ve re-watched the episode.]

  1. Ichabod successfully dodges questions about his dedication to the craft of historical reenactments:  “One might say it’s a way of life.”
  2. Ichabod vs. the confusion of modern relationship labels:  “Miss Mills is my partner! Not life partner, but…”
  3. Ichabod vs. the art of the text message soft blow letdown:  “Oh yes, a grimacing lemon emoticon should properly convey my emotions.”
  4. I don’t think that means what you think it means: “A route where a youth and his betrothed could walk hand in hand, closely followed by their parents of course.” — Ichabod re: “Lovers Lane”
  5. Ichabod vs. the high school pep squad:  “I’m duly impressed with… spirit.”

Nels knew how to operate a TV remote control before she knew how to talk. As a result, she has spent an inordinate amount of time pretending she actually lives on a soundstage. When she isn’t watching whichever show is currently capturing her heart, she is writing about how said show is currently capturing her heart. She loves pie.

Actually, the biggest Crane vs. 21st century moment of this episode was a heartbreaking one–when he didn’t realize that Abbie could be saved from drowning with CPR, because of course he had no idea what that is.

You’re so right! I didn’t even think of that because it was so dramatic, and I tend to think of these moments as lighthearted comedic relief. That was definitely a huge eye-opener.
