UTOPIA: Watch the first five minutes right now!

FOX has made available the first five minutes of Utopia, its new reality show premiering Sunday night. From Big Brother‘s creator John de Mol, and also adapted from a successful Dutch TV show (an internet sensation over there!), this reality will follow 15 pioneering Americans as they leave their everyday lives and move into an undeveloped and remote location (in Southern California) as they’ve been given the possibility to start a new civilization from scratch. Read more about the show (and get access to the feeds and everything!) at utopiatv.com.

So far, most of the buzz the show has had has stemmed from Twitter and the people already watching the feeds there [the ‘pioneers’ moved in to the location around 9 days ago]. It will be interesting to see whether this will succeed or fail, as it is one of FOX’s biggest bets this fall (it is both the 8pm hour on Tuesdays and the 9pm hour on Fridays).

But enough from me! Watch the five minutes below and let us know whether you will be watching or have been watching already in the comments below!

Utopia’s three premiere-night events start tomorrow at Sunday, September 7 at 8/7c (two hours) and both Tuesday and Friday at 8/7c (one hour each).

… is a young graduate student that has been way too passionate about television ever since she was little. While she insists she doesn’t have a specific type of show, they all usually have strong but flawed lady characters, some derivation of the stubborn friends-in-love/friends-to-lovers trope, and they all make her yell at her tv a lot. She just wishes she had more hours in the day so she could actually write about this.
